SFR options

SFR Window operation and display are controlled by choosing the 'SFR Window' page of the Tools/Options dialog (also accessible from SFR Windows’s context menu).


Update

A powerful microcontroller can have several thousand special function registers. Getting the value for every one of them might take several seconds to complete. It is thus recommended to update only visible registers. In this case, values of hidden registers are retrieved when the register becomes visible.


Display

To facilitate identification of register value, a textual description can be shown along with the value.


Note that this feature is CPU and register dependent and may not be available for all registers


If ‘Display Short Names’ is checked, only short names of SFRs will be shown.


If 'Display radix prefix' is checked, values will be shown with radix prefix:

0x for hexadecimal values

0b for binary values


Sub-Register Display

The sub-registers can be shown with values, names and values or not at all.

Note that this feature is CPU and register dependent and may not be available for all registers.


Memory Access

The memory can be accessed through a monitor, or real-time access can be enabled. If you wish to monitor SFRs in the Real Time Watch window, Real Time Access must be enabled.


Full refresh abort

If the option is enabled, then reading of the SFRs will be aborted after the specified time. All registers that will be skipped due to the abort, will have 'skipped' displayed instead pf the value. Option is useful if many SFRs are viewed at the same time, which would cause winIDEA to hang for up to a minute or more, while reading the registers. We recommend that only the relevant part of the SFRs is viewed at a time.


Group refresh abort

If the option is enabled, then reading of the SFR group will be aborted after the specified time. Option is useful if many SFRs are viewed at the same time, which would cause winIDEA to hang for up to a minute or more, while reading the registers. Access error refresh abort

If this option is enabled and an access error occurs in a specific group, all subsequent registers form that group will be skipped to speed up the refresh process. All skipped registers will have 'skipped' written instead of the value.
