The new plug-in enables use of SEGGER J-Link debuggers with iSYSTEM Embedded Software Development and Test Environment.

This document describes supported features and presents example of use.

In order to use the Segger J-Link family of products in conjunction with winIDEA the Segger J-Link Software and Document Pack needs to be installed (visit

winIDEA Open

Requires no license, but is limited to GCC compiler, no technical support is provided and updates are not provided on regular basis. Visit forum for help

winIDEA 2012*

Has  no limitations, but requires a license. Contact iSystem sales at

Target board

Have required software installed on your computer. Connect debugger to PC and target device. Power the emulator (if required) and target device.

34.2Using SEGGER J-Link Plug-In

34.2.1Selecting J-Link Plug-In

You can select plug-in before creating new project (workspace) or you can use existing workspace and then select J-Link plug-in.

34.2.2Segger Menu

After selecting Segger Development Tools Plug-In a new menu will be available in winIDEA toolbar.

SEGGER Options Window

In this window user can set various connection options, interface speeds, SWO settings, etc. Target device name can be input here directly, but it is recommended to use Select CPU dialog window.

It is recommended using this dialog window to select the target CPU you are using in your project.

Note: J-Link Control Panel will only be available after you initialize debug chain.

Open J-Link Log

Command will open J-Link log file in the default text editor. Log file must be enabled in the Segger -> Options… window. For explanation on contents of the log file see J-Link Software and Document Pack .

J-Link Cmd

Command will launch J-Link command-line application. See J-Link Software and Document Pack for more information.
