PC and BlueBox

This chapter describes how to connect USB and Ethernet cable.

The iSYSTEM BlueBox supports two types of communication ports through which the BlueBox unit connects to the PC:

  • USB (2.0/3.0) - Fast connection, higher bandwidth
  • TCP/IP - Remote operation, shared BlueBox hardware

Both the 10/100 Ethernet Socket and the USB 3.0 Socket can be connected to a network/PC simultaneously. The active interface will be determined by whichever interface winIDEA connects to first.

It is recommended to use the USB3.0 (iC5700) interface since it provides the fastest transfer from the BlueBox development system to the PC where winIDEA IDE runs. This will guarantee a maximum performance of the BlueBox development system. For the USB3.0 connection use cable USB3.0 delivered along with the BlueBox. The BlueBox USB3.0 port is backwards compatible with the USB2.0 ports on the PC side.

Communication over a wired Ethernet connection can be used to access the BlueBox from a distant PC or when a single BlueBox unit is shared between multiple PCs or users.
